Trent Boult grabbed three late wickets after Neil Wagner collected his 100th Test victim to put New Zealand firmly in control of the first match against Pakistan at the close of the third day’s play on Saturday. (Scorecard)The visitors were reduced to 129 for seven in their second innings, a lead of 62 runs, with Asad Shafiq on six and Sohail Khan on 22 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.Until the last 45 minutes on play, the visitors had taken the day’s honours by inching into the lead and setting themselves up to build on Sunday.Boult, however, took the catch to dismiss Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq (13) then got the wickets of Azhar Ali (31), Sarfraz Ahmed (2) and Mohammad Amir (6), giving his side the chance to finish off the Test on Sunday and take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.WAGNER BREACHES 100-WICKET MARKThe 30-year-old Wagner had earlier become the second fastest New Zealander to the 100-wicket mark, achieving it in his 26th Test. Richard Hadlee, the country’s most prolific wicket taker with 431, took 25 Tests to reach 100.Pakistan’s seamers had dragged their side back into the game when they captured seven wickets in the first session to bowl the hosts out for 200.Sohail (3-78), Rahat Ali (4-62) and Amir (3-43) shared the wickets after the hosts had resumed on 104 for three only to be bundled out with just a 67-run lead.Pakistan were content to slowly chip away at the deficit, losing opener Sami Aslam for seven just after lunch.Azhar and Babar Azam continued to grind away until well into the final session before Wagner’s short-pitched tactics paid off when Babar gloved a ball down the leg side to wicketkeeper BJ Watling to become the left armer’s 100th Test wicket.advertisementWagner then captured the prolific Younus Khan (1) with a perfect bouncer that he was unable to avoid and the ball flew through to Watling to leave Pakistan in trouble at 64 for three.Azhar, who scored a triple century against West Indies in Dubai last month, guided Pakistan into the lead when he deflected Wagner past gully for a boundary before he and Misbah looked to consolidate.Misbah, however, was caught in the deep by Boult off Tim Southee for 13, before the left armer took three wickets in three successive overs.

Mauricio Pochettino acknowledges he is a completely different coach to the fresh-faced tactician who enjoyed early career successes against Pep Guardiola.Pochettino’s Tottenham host Guardiola’s Manchester City at Wembley on Monday, with the Premier League champions nine games into an unbeaten start to their title defence.Despite an underwhelming Champions League campaign to date, Spurs have been similarly impressive domestically this term and victory at England’s national stadium would see them leapfrog City in the standings. Pep Guardiola has said his Manchester City side might need to suffer if they are to make the leap and win the Champions League, and in that sense Lyon have done the Premier League champions a huge favour twice this season. They have made Guardiola’s men suffer for 180 minutes, recording a win and a draw that has ultimately not jeopardised City’s chances of reaching the knock-out phases, but which will give the Blues plenty to ponder as they progress in the competition.City’s 2-2 draw at the Groupama Stadium on Tuesday night secured qualification, which will provide as much relief as it will joy given they lost their opening game to this very side back in September. Article continues below Editors’ Picks Man Utd ready to spend big on Sancho and Haaland in January Who is Marcus Thuram? Lilian’s son who is top of the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchengladbach Brazil, beware! Messi and Argentina out for revenge after Copa controversy Best player in MLS? Zlatan wasn’t even the best player in LA! Yet if City think they got out of the woods by twice pegging back the fearless French side, they will be in for a rude awakening come the last 16 and beyond. Having lost to Lyon at the Etihad Stadium to Lyon in September, Guardiola said his players needed more bruising encounters to get them used to life against the big boys, the teams who will take the game to them. “Maybe we need to live a [difficult] moment in the competition,” he said. “The last two seasons when I’m here we qualified quite comfortably. Maybe you have to suffer in the group stage to realise and make a step forward.”As Lyon attacked City relentlessly on Tuesday night, fans and pundits alike mused that this is what Premier League teams need to do more often. That ignores the fact that most Premier League teams are simply not built to do that, neither in terms of quality or mentality. But across Europe there are several sides built exactly like that, who will play their own game against Guardiola’s men. Teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and perhaps Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain, teams that City will have to face at some point if they are to win this competition. The elite clubs may not be quite at their best at the moment, and City may be outdoing them in terms of league performances, but, as Lyon have proven twice now, form can count for nothing when it comes to one-off meetings.Does it matter that Lyon are second in Ligue 1 and miles behind PSG if they leave Memphis Depay, Nabil Fekir and Maxwel Cornet up front against City’s back three when the Blues have the ball, and push another two players up into the forward line when Lyon are attacking? It is that kind of bravery, blended with their quality, that has troubled City so consistently across their two meetings, and there will be more of that to come next year.City have been without Kevin De Bruyne for both games against Lyon, it should be pointed out, though while his inclusion would no doubt improve his side, he cannot be expected to combat all of the problems that the big sides will pose.In De Bruyne’s absence on Tuesday it was hoped and expected that youngster Phil Foden would start, although given how the game panned out Guardiola could argue he was sparing the 18-year-old a baptism of fire.Yet with three of the senior players ahead of him all ruled out through injury, and with Guardiola having said he is “definitely” ready for a game of this stature, Foden may well wonder when he will get the chance to show he can indeed handle the pressure.Seeing the game pan out as it did, however, that is a mere footnote. Top of the agenda will be City’s ability, or otherwise, to handle Europe’s most dangerous sides. There are positives, of course. Maybe the suffering has already had an effect; Guardiola wants and needs to see an improvement from his players when they are faced with adversity, and the fact they twice hit back to equalise here bodes well. Then again, none of this will come as much of a surprise to Guardiola, who does not believe that his side are ready to win the Champions League, in terms of the stature of the club. But any outside observer will rightly expect this team of talented, motivated and intelligent footballers to make a serious challenge this season. If they are to do that they will have to come through more testing nights like this. There will be more suffering to come. Check out Goal’s Premier League 2019-20 fantasy football podcast for game tips, debate and rivalries.
Kolkata, May 16 (PTI) In what will be pre-cursor to the high-octane Federation Cup final, Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC will have an ideal dress rehearsal when they square off in an inconsequential AFC Cup group league encounter tomorrow. Bagan are already out of AFC Cup while Bengaluru as the group E toppers have already qualified for the next stage. However the crazy scheduling of Federation Cup meant that the final is being played a week after the semi-finals with the second tier continental championship sandwiched in between. This will be their fifth meeting this season, with the first of those matches took place in Bengaluru on March 11. They have met in two I-League games, one Federation Cup group game and one leg of the AFC Cup — with the results being two draws and one win apiece. They will meet again for the sixth time on May 21 in Cuttack in the Federation Cup final that will also give the winners an AFC Cup slot for the 2018 season. On nine points from four matches to lead the table, Bengaluru will look to log full points to secure their passage to knock-out stage. The third-placed Mohun Bagan who have three points from four matches will look to finish on a high at their home venue where they have been unbeaten this season. Both Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru FC lost their respective last assignment in the AFC Cup. Mohun Bagan lost 2-5 to Maziya Sports and Recreation of Maldives at the National Stadium in Male on May 3. Bengaluru FC went down 0-2 to Abahani Limited Dhaka at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka on the same day. PTI TAP KHS KHSadvertisement
Bangladesh are one win away from their first final in a major tournament but whatever the outcome of their Champions Trophy semi-final against India on Thursday, it is clear the country’s long struggle in the game is now bearing fruit.Bangladesh qualified for this year’s eight-nation Champions Trophy, having missed out on the last two editions, thanks to their improving fortunes in the one-day game combined with the decline of West Indies cricket.Although still viewed until recently by many as “minnows”, it should not be surprising that Bangladesh, who reached the last four thanks to an impressive win over New Zealand, are now among the elite teams in the shorter forms of the game. The country has plenty of talent to choose from with a population of 160 million which is lower only than India and Pakistan among test-playing nations.Cricket is the national sport and has deep roots with the Dhaka Premier League having begun in 1974, three years after the country’s bloody war of independence from Pakistan – but it has been a long grind to get to their current level.”I think everyone has contributed to what we are today. The whole nation will be with us as they were in our desperate times and good times,” Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza said after the victory over New Zealand.By 1979, still dealing with many issues of post-war reconstruction, Bangladesh entered their first international tournament, the ICC Trophy in England, a tournament designed for the non-test playing nations in which they lost to Canada and Denmark.advertisementSteady progress enabled Bangladesh to win the ICC Trophy in 1997 and two years later they played in the full World Cup where they pulled off a famous victory over Pakistan. In 2000, the country entered cricket’s elite, becoming a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and hosting their first test match, against India in Dhaka. The step-up in competition was tough, from 1999 to 2004 the side lost 71 of 72 completed matches, but by the mid-2000’s Bangladesh were starting to show signs of promise. In the three-nation NatWest Series in 2005, they beat Australia at Cardiff and two years later enjoyed wins over India and South Africa in the 2007 World Cup.Bangladesh have now claimed victories in one-day cricket against all the top nations, although their test record is poorer with just nine wins in 100 tests. Two years ago in the World Cup, they beat and finished above England in their group to reach the quarter-finals, where they lost to Thursday’s opponents India. It is a big ask for the Tigers to overcome the sub-continent’s dominant nation and reach that first final but the 224-run partnership between Mahmudullah and Shakib Al Hasan in the five-wicket win over the Kiwis showed they have the players capable of producing an upset.
Karachi, Jul 8 (PTI) A deluge of former international football stars including Brazilians Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos along with Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs are being paid hefty amounts between USD 300,000 to USD 600,000 to play a couple of exhibition matches in Pakistan. Along with them, some of the other big stars, who will be joining are Nicolas Anelka, Robert Pires, David James, George Boateng and Luis Boa Morte. The players arrived in Karachi early Saturday morning on a private jet manned by the Pakistan military. The two exhibition matches will be held in Karachi and Lahore under the auspices of the Leisure Leagues and World Group who claim they want to promote the sport in Pakistan. According to a report in the “News International”, the leisure league is paying Ronaldinho around USD 600,000 for the short visit while the other players are getting paid between USD 300,000 and USD 400,000. Interestingly, the Pakistani players who will play alongside the international stars of the exhibition games, have complained that they have not been promised any payments from the organizers for the matches. The organizers are selling tickets for the exhibition matches priced between 2000 and 30,000 Pakistani rupees. Due to the devastating effects of terrorist attacks in Pakistan for the last one-decade, international teams and players have refrained from coming to Pakistan due to security concerns. PTI KHS KHS
Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is unsure about his immediate future at the Premier League club but remains focused on preparing for the team’s pre-season fixtures, the France international said.Manager Arsene Wenger used Giroud primarily as a substitute last season as the 30-year-old made 18 of his 29 league appearances off the bench and started in just three of Arsenal’s eight Champions League matches. The North London club’s new signing Alexandre Lacazette will increase competition for starting places up front and while Giroud welcomes the added pressure, he remains uncertain about extending his five-year stay at the Emirates.”At the moment I’m still an Arsenal player so I’ll try to be professional like always and prepare well for next season,” Giroud told Sky Sports in Sydney.”Obviously, there will be more competition, even more than last year, but it’s always nice for a striker to feel the pressure and I always deal with it.”I’ve been through some difficulties these last years but always succeeded to bounce back, but this one I don’t know. I don’t know about my future so I can’t tell you more. I’m focused on my pre-season.”Two other major players that are yet to secure their Arsenal futures are midfielder Mesut Ozil and last season’s top scorer Alexis Sanchez, both of whom have entered the final year of their contracts and are yet to sign new deals. On Wednesday, the German playmaker said that he would like to stay but would hold talks with the club after pre-season and is hopeful that Sanchez makes the same decision, admitting that the Chilean’s departure would hinder the club’s title challenge.advertisement”It would hit the team quite hard if he left because he’s a player who always delivers,” Ozil said. “It would be a setback to winning the title, but in the end it’s the player’s decision.”I hope Alexis stays but I don’t know what the status is, to be honest. I value him a lot as a player and he’s very well suited to the game Arsenal play.”From a personal view I’d really appreciate if he stays, but it’s the player’s decision after all and there’s not much more I can comment on that.”Arsenal will play their first pre-season match against Sydney FC on Thursday.

KP Bhaskar was retained as the chief coach of Delhi Ranji team by the Cricket Affairs Committee (CAC) despite non-performance in all the domestic tournaments last year.Former India all-rounder Manoj Prabhakar has been named the bowling coach by the Madan Lal-led Committee. Prabhakar incidentally was the chief coach of the senior team during the 2010-11 season. He has replaced Amit Bhandari, whose performance had also come under scanner. In another important decision, Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has been appointed the coach of the Delhi Under-23 side.Sharma runs a popular cricket coaching centre — West Delhi Cricket Academy, where Kohli got his first cricketing lessons. After deliberating for nearly five days, the Committee decided to retain Bhaskar, despite the senior team’s poor performance in the premier domestic tournaments — Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy. In both tournaments, Delhi failed to qualify for the knock-out stage. However the former Delhi right-hander came into spotlight after his heated exchange with veteran opener Gautam Gambhir as they nearly came to exchanging blows.Gambhir had later in an interview to PTI alleged that Bhaskar was “playing with careers of youngsters and creating divide in the dressing room”.Gambhir was later reprimanded with a suspended sentence by a disciplinary committee headed by the same Madan Lal, who later headed the CAC which also comprised Saba Karim, Sunil Valson, Amita Sharma and journalist GS Vivek.Asked to explain the decision to retain Bhaskar, Lal told PTI: “We had to give Bhaskar a second chance. One year is not enough time to judge someone’s capability as a coach. The committee is confident that he will do a better job this year.”advertisementQuizzed about Bhaskar’s strained relationship with a senior like Gambhir, who is expected to be selected, Lal sidestepped the issue.”Things like these happen sometimes but we have to move ahead in life. Hopefully, it will be better this time,” said the member of the 1983 World Cup winning squad.Prabhakar on his part is happy to be back in the Delhi cricket fold.”I want to help Delhi cricket in any capacity possible.Things haven’t been too well and we need to clean the mess,” Prabhakar said.Atul Wassan was retained as the chairman of the senior selection committee along with Robin Singh Junior. With Nikhil Chopra opting out, veteran Hari Gidwani was back in the panel.Gambhir and Gidwani did not share a great equation during his earlier stint as selector, under Vinay Lamba’s chairmanship, as they had frequent disagreements on team selection.Former wicketkeeper-batsman Rajeev Vinayak was entrusted with the Under-19 coach’s job while Bantu Singh is back as the Under-16 coach.Hitesh Sharma has been named Under-14 coach.

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is facing nearly a month on the sidelines with a muscular injury he picked up during the international break, his manager Antonio Conte said ahead of Saturday’s Premier League trip to Crystal Palace. The France international limped off clutching his hamstring during last week’s 1-0 World Cup qualifying victory in Bulgaria and missed his country’s next game against Belarus on Tuesday. An initial scan suggested the 26-year-old would be out for up to 25 days, but Conte is hoping a second one will give him better news.”For sure it’s a muscular problem, a hamstring,” Conte told a news conference on Friday. “This is a big loss for us. You know very well the importance of N’Golo Kante in our team. We don’t have another player with the same characteristics.”For this reason, we are going to do another scan after one week to understand the situation very well, and see if this scan is better than the scan before.”The champions, fourth in the table on 13 points after seven games, have league matches against Watford and Bournemouth, as well as a Champions League double-header with Roma and a League Cup clash with Everton this month. They face second-placed Manchester United on November 5, and with Tiemoue Bakayoko and Cesc Fabregas the only specialist central midfielders available, Conte might have to turn to his defenders or younger players to step in for Kante.”We have to find different solutions in this period, to adapt some defenders in midfield, or give opportunities to young players like (Kyle) Scott or (Ethan) Ampadu,” he said.advertisementStriker Alvaro Morata is also out of the trip to Selhurst Park after injuring a hamstring in the 1-0 home defeat by Manchester City at the end of September, but could be back in time to face Roma on Wednesday.New signing Danny Drinkwater, who is yet to play for the club, is still out with a calf problem and Conte will be patient with the former Leicester City midfielder.”Drinkwater is progressing well but is not ready yet,” the Italian added. “We must have patience with him, with his calf problem.”
Virat Kohli celebrates his 29th birthday today. The Indian captain has had a sensational career so far and is now actually breaking records for fun. Since his One-Day International debut on August 18, 2008, Kohli has scored 32 ODI tons and 17 Test hundreds in his illustrious career.Kohli had a modest beginning to his ODI career where he scored only one hundred and three fifties and it was only since 2010 that the Delhi lad began flourishing. In 2010, Kohli scored three hundred and seven fifties that also earned him a Test call-up.WATCH VIDEOIn 2011, the Delhi batsman smashed a total of eight half-centuries and four centuries but failed to reach the 100-run mark in Test. In Test cricket, he only managed two fifties.Kohli has only been on the rise since 2012, scoring a total of 17 Test hundreds and 24 ODI centuries. In 2016 alone, four Test hundreds and three ODI centuries and 2017, has only brought better times for the India captain. Virat Kohli struck his career-best 243 against Sri Lanka in the third and final Test on a day that was marred by poor air quality in Delhi.Kohli’s majestic knock put India in a commanding position on the second day of the Test as the Delhi dasher smacked 25 fours during his marathon 287-ball innings. In reaching his sixth double century, Kohli overtook Brian Lara as the player to score most double hundreds as Test captain. Lara scored five of his nine career Test double centuries as West Indies captain. Legendary Australian batsman Don Bradman posted 12 double centuries, but only four of those as Test captain. In the process, Kohli also completed 1000 runs in Test cricket in 2017becoming the fourth batsman to achieve the feat this year. SouthAfrica’s Dean Elgar (1097 runs) was the first while Sri Lankan DimuthKarunaratne (1018 runs) was second before Cheteshwar Pujara (1091 runs)accomplished the feat in the Nagpur Test.Back to back double ?? for King Kohli #INDvSL pic.twitter.com/NDMmtzbs4W- BCCI (@BCCI) December 3, 2017He also became the third Indian player to score 1000-plus Test runs in successive years after Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar.Kohli resumed Sunday on 156, with India at 371-4, and helped India add 129 in the morning session without losing a wicket until Lakshan Sandakan (3-148) had Rohit (65) caught behind off a bottom edge. The fifth-wicket pair set a hectic pace, scoring 71 runs in the first hour and another 58 in the second. After scoring 213 in Nagpur, Kohli scored his second consecutive double hundred off 238 balls. Overall, he has batted for 391 minutes, facing 266 balls and hitting 23 boundaries.advertisementIndia lead the three-match series 1-0 after winning in Nagpur by an innings and 239 runs. The first Test in Kolkata was drawn.Kohli has been on a record-breaking spree in Test cricket of late. He, earlier in this match, became the 11th India to breach the 5000-run mark in his 105th innings and the fourth quickest among Indians to achieve the feat.Former captain Sunil Gavaskar is the quickest Indian to score 5000 runs as he did it in 95 innings followed by Virender Sehwag (99) and Sachin Tendulkar (103).Kohli is also the second quickest Indian batsman to score 20 Test centuries. The 29-year-old surpassed the great Sachin Tendulkar (107) to become the second fastest Indian batsman to score 20 hundreds in Test cricket. Sunil Gavaskar heads the list having reached the milestone in just 93 innings while Kohli got there in his 105th innings. He is also the quickest to complete 52 international centuries across formats, achieving the feat in his 350th innings to beat South African Hashim Amla’s record of 378 innings. In the ongoing Test, Kohli also went past 3000 Test runs as captain becoming the third Indian skipper after MS Dhoni and Gavaskar to achieve the feat.Kohli is scoring hundreds for fun these days and this was his 11th hundred this year across formats which made him the most prolific captain, in terms of hundreds scored in a calendar year. Overall, he is the third player after Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting to score 11 tons in a calendar year.
William Opoku Asiedu struck twice as Minerva Punjab FC blanked Indian 2-0 in a hard fought I-League match here on Tuesday.Asiedu (7th, 84th minutes) scored once in each half to help Minerva quell a strong challenge from the youngsters in the Indian Arrows line-up.Minerva thus climbed to the top of the league table with seven points from three matches. The Arrows are fourth with three points from two matches. Before the home side could even settle down, Minerva made their intentions clear thanks to a wonder goal from William. The goal originated from a throw-in down the left. A long throw from Sukhdev Singh into the box was met with a weak clearance from Arrows right-back Boris Singh as it fell kindly to Girik Khosla. With no one closing him down outside the box, Khosla laid it down for William Opoku who unleashed a rocket of a shot from nearly 40 yards out. Arrows keeper Dheeraj Singh could do nothing as the ball drilled into the net past his outstretched right hand.Meanwhile, the Minerva defence didn’t give the Arrows attackers a sniff at goal but Arrows were slowly growing into the game. And the first telling goal-scoring opportunity for Arrows saw striker Edmund Lalrindika releasing Abhijit Sarkar with a perfectly weighted ball. Sarkar tried a first-time shot but it lacked power or precision as it bounced slowly into the arms of Rakshit Dagar. It was the only noteworthy chance for the Arrows who were otherwise subdued.Minerva started the second half in the same way they started the first – by putting Arrows under pressure.advertisementBut Arrows regrouped and started going forward. And they had an opportunity when Minerva conceded an indirect free-kick when Sukhdev Singh lobbed a ball back to the goalkeeper who collected it with his hands down the left channel close to the touchline.Stalin slipped a pass into the centre to Sarkar whose steered shot was easily collected by Rakshit in the 69th minute.Edmund was a livewire and created two excellent goal-scoring opportunities. One cross from the left and then from the right missed Rahul and Sarkar respectively.Minerva Punjab should have been 2-0 up when a misunderstanding between Dheeraj and Deepak saw Opoku pounce on it as he rounded Deepak and tried to shoot into an open goal after Dheeraj couldn’t make his way back to goal. But to Opoku’s dismay, the ball hit the post before the danger was cleared. But the Arrows could do nothing when Opoku showed his predatory skills when Checho found Opoku in the six-yard box and the Ghanaian scored his second of the night.
It’s quite possible the eighth bowler in India’s seventeen member squad to South Africa may not bowl a ball during the Test series. But unlike the past, his selection certainly wasn’t a quota berth this time. India’s No. 2 limited-overs seam specialist Jasprit Bumrah is the man in question who gets his first opportunity with the India whites.Bumrah’s selection as the sixth fast bowler in a squad that also includes seaming all-rounder Hardik Pandya serves two purposes. Apart from being an able reserve should need arise, his selection is also a statement of sorts that this time India believe seam and swing are their primary weapon, not spin. That could be a way to discourage the hosts from risking prepare absolute green tops at Cape Town, Wanderers or Pretoria. If South Africa is compelled to mull over leaving too much grass with a fear it could be counter productive, that may ease India’s batting challenge just a bit even before the first ball is delivered. That’s not to suggest, South Africa may be fooled just by the numerical strength of fast bowlers in the Indian squad. But with an improved and experienced version of Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav, the ever improving swing and seam of Bhuveneshwar Kumar, the tireless Mohammed Shami and young and fast-learning Hardik Pandya in the mix, India do have a pace attack to reckon with this time around.Add white ball specialist Bumrah to the list, also given his proven red ball track record in domestic cricket, this is the most exciting pace battery India has carried to the South African shores.advertisementBumrah’s Test cricket potential has been advocated by cricket legends Ricky Pointing and Shane Bond while working with him closely as coaching staff during IPL.Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly also sees merit in India choosing an additional fast bowler as opposed to a reserve spinner. “Pick Kuldeep only if the captain believes he can play in the eleven. If Virat thinks his spinners are Ashwin, Jadeja then Kuldeep, might as well pick an additional fast bowler. You are not going to play two spinners in the eleven,” he told India Today.Clearly Virat may not have seen Kuldeep playing unless Ashwin and Jadeja’s options are exhausted and things may not come to such a pass in a three Test series.Former chairman of selectors Dilip Vengsarkar did tell India Today he would go for Kuldeep Yadav as the third spinner for his mystery streak but clearly Virat for the moment keeps faith in Jadeja’s left-arm spin in Test cricket.Bumrah has had to wait long for a Test opportunity but if he is destined to do it in South Africa, with a bit of fortune, don’t rule out a Test debut with a crack at Hashim Amla and Co. in helpful conditions. If not, his mere presence in the Indian touring party, still has its value.
